Hii friends... Now I am going to share a kurma recipe with lots of Soya chunks and some potato. Anywhere in any functions you will really love to serve this Kurma, Some people add Soya, some people add Potatoes and even some more people add even other veggies to prepare the kurma Curry. But now I would like to share this recipe which involves Soya and Potato and I like Soya very much and it includes regularly in my diet. It is also very good for health because it consists of rich proteins. So. let's begin the process..
- Potatoes - 2 chopped in to cubes of medium size
- Onion - 1 finely chopped
- Soya chunks - 1 cup
- Tomatoes - 2 finely chopped
- Green Peas - 1/2 cup
- Poppy Seeds - 1 spoon
- Cashew nuts - nearly 10
- Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
- Oil - 3 spoons
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 spoon
- Salt - to taste
- Chili powder - to taste
- Garam masala - 1/2 spoon
- Coriander powder - 1/2 spoon
- Ginger Garlic paste - 1 spoon
- Curry leaves - 2 leaf lets
- Coriander leaves - 2 spoons finely chopped
STEP 1:
Take a pan, first we should dry roast the Poppy Seeds, Cashew nuts and add some grated Coconut and fry them for 2 minutes and let them cool and then take a blender and add these to the blender and make them in to a fine paste or powder.
STEP 2:
In the same pan, add 3 spoons of Oil. This Oil is enough for this curry but for Kurma's if you see many of us add lot of Oil and says that at the end the whole Oil will come at the top of the curry. But now, here we are making this in home style so little bit of Oil is sufficient to make this curry.
STEP 3:
Once your Oil is hot enough, add chopped Onions to this add little bit of Salt so that water can be extracted and hence Onions can be fried in less time. Fry the Onions till they are slightly brown in color. When they are fried to our desired brown color, add Ginger Garlic paste, Turmeric powder, Curry leaves and let them fry for 2 more minutes so that the raw flavor of Ginger Garlic paste goes.
STEP 4:
Now, this is the time to add Spices. Add Coriander powder, Chili powder. Dear friends add Chili powder according to your Spiciness. Now add the paste that we have blended by adding some water at starting of our recipe. And we are should cook this until the Oil comes at the top. It cook at least for 3 to 4 minutes.
STEP 5:
To this add little amount of Water and cook it for 4 minutes and then we can observe that the Poppy seeds paste will turns in to a nice lump and it will not stick to the base of the pan, till then we should cook this mixture. So that we can come to a point that it is cooked. Now, we can add vegetables.
STEP 6:
Add the raw Potatoes that we have cutted in to medium sized cubes. Don't cut in to large pieces. And mix it well and then cover this to cook the Potatoes that is 70% done. Add some water and cook for 3 minutes and then we can observe that our Potato pieces gets boiled and now again add some water. Don't worry if you add little bit extra also, as it is a kurma it requires more amount of Water.
STEP 7:
Take a bowl, to this add some water and soak the Soya chunks in this water for 5 minutes and it is better to take small sized soya chunks, later squeeze out the water and add to our curry and also add finely chopped tomatoes and mix it well. And now it is the time for consistency because if you want the kurma wet then add some more water it tastes good when it is wet. If you do not like to add the you let it dry but, i suggest ou to add little amount of water.
STEP 8:
After adding water we should cover it and cook this for 5 more minutes so that our tomatoes will cook and even all the masala will go in to the Soya. Now ad some more of Water and check the taste. If there is need of adding Salt add Salt to it and also add Garam masala and add some Green peas and cover this and cook for another 3 minutes.
STEP 9:
You just sim it for 3 minutes ad then you will observe that all the Soya are floating at the top because as they will observe the masala moisture. Finally, add finely chopped Coriander leaves and then it is done and ready to serve.
We can serve it with Chapati, Polka and even with rice it really tastes yummyy.......
